Perfume as Practice june 2019

My 8th Perfume as Practice exhibition took place at Asylum Gallery, Wolverhampton, from 15th – 29th June 2019. The exhibition comprised 12 perfumes, each a portrait of another artist achieved through a process that begins by asking artists ‘why do you make art?’ then using fragrance design to respond to the answer received; capturing the essence of each artist.

The theme and visual elements chosen for the exhibition revolved around perfume itself, and how it can be utilised as a tool for creative action. I wanted the artistic potential of perfumery to be at the heart of the exhibition, as such I staged 3 perfume making workshops in the space itself, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the perfume making process first hand.
